Equality of employment opportunity (EEO) data collection

As of 1 July 2008, the Equality of Employment Opportunity (EEO) is legislatively covered by the Public Service Act 2008 – section 30.

Section 30 of the Public Service Act 2008 (the Act) requires relevant EEO agencies to act to enable members of EEO target groups to compete for recruitment, selection, promotion and transfers and to pursue careers, as effectively as people who are not members of those groups.

Please also refer to the Annual Equality of Employment Opportunity Reporting to the Commission Chief Executive Policy.

It is the responsibility of each agency to provide an EEO Census Form to each of their employees. The unit record information is then passed onto Public Service Commission (PSC) staff for data collating and whole of sector EEO reporting.
