Senior Executive Service

The Senior Executive Service (SES) comprises senior executive roles within the Queensland public service, but does not include:

• Chief executives
• Senior officers (SO Levels 1 and 2)
• Officers appointed on a contract of employment under section 122 of the Public Service Act 2008.

Employment in the SES is designed to ensure that executives:

• develop a public-service wide perspective
• continue their executive development, and
• develop their skills through deployment within and outside the public service.

Supporting the capability, leadership and performance of senior executives are the Senior Executive Performance and Development Framework and the Capability and Leadership Framework.
